On cloud nine for new AI giant

A £3.75BILLION data centre, with the potential to serve major tech giants like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, is set to be built near the M25 in Hertfordshire.

When completed, it will be Europe’s largest cloud and Al data centre.

The huge state-of-the-art facility will be built on 85 acres of land adjacent to the M25, to the east of the South Mimms Services, near the Elstree substation.

It will be 30 minutes from central London and span up to two million square feet.

Despite considerable opposition, the approval was granted by Herts- mere Borough Council last Thursday, just a week after the Government launched its Al opportunities action plan.

Jeremy Newmark, leader of the council, hailed the project as “momentous”.
