SIR Steve Redgrave has admitted he is risking serious injury by taking part in the new series of Dancing on Ice at the age of 62 - and with a litany of health issues.

But the Olympic rower, who boasts five gold medals, says he has decided to take on the challenge while he still can.

He admitted being surprised when the production's medics passed him fit for the ITV show, as he suffers from a long list of conditions including diabetes, ulcerative colitis, a frozen shoulder and arthritis in his knees.

Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey has already been forced to pull out of the new series, which starts tonight, after she suffered a serious ankle injury in training.
