Most reliable cars to pass the first MOT

Lexus, Honda, Toyota, Mazda and Suzuki sit proudly in the top 10 slots, while brands at the wrong end of the table include BMW, Ford, Tesla and Hyundai.

The £35,000 Lexus UX had the best record, with just 5.34% failing their first MOT. The Japanese SUV came second in 2022 and 2023.

Last year 4,305 were taken in for an MOT and just 243 failed.

The Porsche Macan came second with just 6.18% fails, with 3,447 having their first MOT and just 227 not passing.

At the other end of the table, the luxury £70,000 BMW X5 was more than three times as likely to flunk its first MOT last year, with almost one in five failing the safety examination.
