Aston Martin isn't one to rest on its laurels for long. It broke new ground in 2019 with its landmark DBX performance SUV, but shortly after, introduced a 707 version, which took this high-riding model's performance and handling to a new level.

Now, there's something else - the DBX S-which tweaks the standard 707 recipe to make this Aston Martin SUV more engaging.

WHAT'S NEW?

The S badge has a lot of history behind it, with Aston Martin applying this to a variety of its go-faster models. In the DBX S, it brings extra power and a greater quest for lightness, brought through a full carbon-fibre roof and optional magnesium wheels which help to shave off up to 47kg.

Style changes include a larger grille aiming to give this car even more presence.

UNDER THE BONNET?

You'll find the same thumping 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as you get in the 707, but power has been increased by 20bhp for a total of 717bhp.

With a total torque figure of 900Nm, it will crack 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and there's a top speed of 193mph. The exhaust gives an even more characterful sound, while the steering has been made quicker. Huge carbon ceramic brakes too.

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?

No surprise, it is very, very fast. Like the 707, it can make long distances turn very short, all accompanied by a raucous soundtrack.
