THE NEXT actor having a licence to kill on the big screen as James Bond will be British.
Executives at streaming giant Amazon and its MGM Studios arm made the call after taking over the franchise, based on author Ian Fleming's spy, from Eon Productions last month.
Fans had feared the deal, which handed control to Americans, would lead to British stars being overlooked.
But chiefs tasked with a rebrand recognise that having a non-Brit is a non-starter.
