'Breast cancer battle will go on till we're heard'

|July 21, 2024
LOOSE WOMEN host Nadia Sawalha has vowed she will never give up a fight to ensure breast cancer patients get access to a life-saving treatment.
The former EastEnders star is campaigning with close friend Hannah Gardner, 38, a mother of one who was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in July 2022.
Last week, Nadia, 59, said their campaign made a leap forward after the Health Secretary Wes Streeting said he was "very concerned" about the issue.
He spoke out after Nadia stripped off outside Parliament alongside 31 other women touched by breast cancer in a "desperate bid to be seen and heard" by the Government over a "game-changing" drug.
The 31 women representing the number in the UK who die of breast cancer every day - had painted their chests with messages including "We could be your sister", "Our lives count", "Help us to live" and asking, "Now do you see us?".
Helen Addis, a senior executive on ITV's Lorraine show, organised this month's protest. Having battled primary breast cancer herself, she lives in fear of its return.
In response to the demonstration, the Health Secretary said: "I take my hat off to the campaigners.
