Having taken down Deputy PM Raab, unelected bureaucrats take aim at Home Secretary's boats crackdown
Suella vows she won't let anyone 'frustrate the will of the people' by stopping boats Bill
SUELLA BRAVERMAN last night vowed to press ahead with tough laws to tackle illegal migration, as allies warned “activist” civil servants are out to get her.
Tory MPs fear that officials who drove Deputy PM Dominic Raab from office now have the Home Secretary in their sights.
They have told her to prepare for a vicious new whispering campaign as her key “stop the boats” Bill returns to the Commons this week.
Senior colleagues warn that the Whitehall “blob”, emboldened by removing Mr Raab with “flimsy” allegations of bullying, will go flat-out to block her.
Last night, defiant Mrs Braverman warned her parliamentary opponents that they must not “frustrate the will of the people”.
She told the Sunday Express: “It’s now for Parliament to get behind this Bill and ensure we bring it into force as soon as possible to meet the aims of the British public.
“I also call on the Labour Party to get behind it and not frustrate the will of the people.
“All they have done so far is try to water down our Bill, pay more heed to the rights of illegal migrants than hard-working British taxpayers and come up with tired old proposals to give more money to law enforcement.”
Mrs Braverman’s confidantes fear that liberals within the establishment are “gunning” for her.
