Concerned councillors are looking to clamp down on people who use fireworks, set up bonfires irresponsibly in the community and cause fear and alarm to residents and pets.

- STEWART MCCONNELL

Newly-elected SNP councillor Josh Fyvie tabled a motion which passed at Stirling Council's full council meeting last week and aims to bring fireworks under control.

The motion read: "Council understands the distress caused by many groups in Stirling by fireworks. In that light, council requests that officers bring a report to a future meeting of the community wellbeing committee, detailing the number of complaints received in respect of firework and bonfire-related incidents and liaise with Police and Fire Service to determine what action can be taken to reduce fireworkrelated incidents, including the potential effectiveness of firework control zones."

Cllr Fyvie said: "Fireworks are beautiful, we can’t dispute that and are exciting and bring us together as part of celebrations across our country.
