Wife denies wanting husband to be hurt

A WOMAN accused of conspiring to murder her husband has denied ever wanting him hurt or killed, a court has heard.

- JASON EVANS Court and crime reporter

Michelle Mills is alleged to have plotted with Geraint Berry and Steven Thomas - two former servicemen she knew through her work with a veterans charity - to murder her husband Christopher Mills.

The trio deny conspiracy to murder and are on trial at Swansea Crown Court.

The court has previously heard that Berry and Thomas, who were masked and carrying imitation handguns, burst into the Mills' caravan in West Wales on the night of Friday, September 20, last year and attacked Mr Mills. The victim managed to disarm the intruders who then fled into adjoining fields.

Police were notified of the incident - which was initially reported as an armed robbery - and firearms officers along with dog units and a helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

Berry and Thomas were located hiding in bushes near the caravan park and arrested. In their rucksacks officers found gas masks and black cable ties along with a "fake suicide letter" purportedly written by Christopher Mills and addressed to his wife.

Text conversations found on Berry's phone led to the arrest of Michelle Mills at her home near Llanelli the day after the caravan incident on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap and murder.
