Gareth Davies shares his story and how free careers advice was a vital part of him finding new purpose

After a period of change following a restructure, Gareth Davies found himself at a crossroads. With his previous role coming to an end, he decided it was time to explore something new, but wasn’t sure where to begin.

After a few months of travelling and making the most of some unexpected time off, things began to feel real. “At first, I enjoyed having the downtime - it helped me clear my head after losing my job and spend quality time with my family,” he admits.

“But then reality hit, bills needed to be paid, and I knew I really needed to find something.”

Gareth got in touch with Working Wales, a free careers advice and guidance service delivered by Careers Wales and funded by the Welsh Government. He was introduced to Kelly, a careers adviser, who helped him identify what he wanted for his future.

“Kelly was incredible,” Gareth said. “She didn’t just help me look for jobs, she helped me figure out exactly what I wanted from my next role.”
