THESE MUSEUMS GET TOP MARKS... BUT WHICH OF THEM WILL SCOOP A NATIONAL AWARD?

- DAISY FOX Family Time Correspondent

KIDS in Museums works with museums, heritage sites and cultural organisations nationwide to make them more welcoming for children, families and young people.

Its annual Family Friendly Museum Awards allow members of the public to nominate their favourite attractions.

Executive director Alison Bowyer says of the entrants: “Expect hands-on activities and exhibitions for all ages, fun trails, sensory bags, space to sit, play and chat and opportunities to try crafts and creative workshops.”

The winners are announced in October, but here are a few from this year’s shortlist...

Horniman Museum & Gardens, London

Shortlisted for: Best Large Museum

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a unique, family friendly attraction in south east London. The Museum's collections include a natural history gallery and Aquarium. The 16 acres of beautiful Gardens feature a tropical Butterfly House.

Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle upon Tyne
