Veteran tactician Owen da Gama may be away from the touchline for now, but the experienced mentor remains deeply involved in the game – monitoring the PSL, nurturing young talent, and carefully weighing up his next move.

Masebe Qina: Coach, we'd like to start by getting an update on what you are currently busy with.

Owen da Gama: At the moment, I'm splitting my time between the farm and my house in Bedfordview.

My son is working on a very big farming project, so I've been assisting him where I can. At the same time, I'm also travelling quite a bit and watching a lot of football.

I make it a point to follow the PSL very closely. I watch all the matches as much as I can, so I have a good understanding of what's happening in the league. On top of that, I'm also preparing to host a tournament in July.

MQ: That sounds exciting. Please tell us more about this tournament and what people can expect from it.

ODG: The idea behind the tournament is to showcase talent.

I'm inviting all the PSL clubs to come and watch the top four teams from each region. We will have four regions, which means there will be 16 teams in total. The aim is to give these players a platform to be seen by professional clubs. There's so much talent in our country, but not everyone gets an opportunity to be noticed. This tournament is about bridging that gap and giving players a real chance.

MQ: Where will the tournament be hosted, and how will the format work in terms of teams and fixtures?

ODG: We are currently waiting for the final matches in the regions to be completed at the end of May.
