STUART BROAD showed last week that old habits die hard when he gave his old Ashes adversary David Warner a little reminder that he still shoots from the lip.

- EXCLUSIVE by Simon Mullock

But the former England paceman insists that when he travels to Australia to cover the latest instalment of cricket's greatest series in his new role as a commentator, he has no intention of becoming a cheerleader for Ben Stokes' team.

Broad, 39, who will be remembered as one of his country's greatest bowlers as well as one of its fiercest competitors, took to social media last week to tease Warner (right) over the Australian's take that Joe Root will be running scared of Josh Hazlewood this winter.

“I only had a little bite back,” laughed Broad, as he admitted that the one thing still missing from his life is the thrill of being in the thick of a contest out in the middle.

“I played in Soccer Aid last year and I enjoy a round of golf, but the one thing I haven't quite found since I retired from cricket is something that has that really competitive edge.
