Hearts 3 Sunderland 0

- By Darren Johnstone

CRAIG GORDON admits he is still desperate to play his part at Hearts this season as he fights his way back from a lingering nerve problem.

The evergreen Scotland international started his testimonial against old club Sunderland but in a prearranged plan he kicked the ball straight out at kickoff and was immediately replaced by Zander Clark.

Gordon was Hearts’ No.1 before the issue flared at the end of the campaign and even at the age of 42 is still hungry to prove himself.

He said: “I was desperate to try and play longer in the game but it became too difficult. The medical team didn’t want me to do it.
