Winter's tale as clocks go forward to summer

PARTS of Scotland could see snow, hail, and thunder today as the clock ticks down to British Summertime.

The clocks go forward this weekend but the weather is going into reverse due to a cold snap.

It will turn noticeably cooler than average for the time of year with temperatures in single figures in the west of Scotland. Clare Nasir of the Met Office cited a weak front straddling Scotland and Northern Ireland yesterday.

She said: “On Friday, towards the west, the air is colder and certainly you will notice the difference.

“It is turning colder for many areas with temperatures around average or slightly below as we head through Friday and into Saturday. Showers will move in behind on a cold and gusty wind, with the risk of thunder, hail and even some wintriness over the higher ground.
