STUTTGART boss Sebastian Hoeness praised Martin O'Neill for turning around a “turbulent” season at Celtic ahead of their Europa League playoff at Parkhead.

The 73-year-old took over from Brendan Rodgers when his fellow Northern Irishman departed the club last October and returned for a second spell as interim boss early in January after Wilfried Nancy's short and disastrous tenure was brought to an end.

In 10 unbeaten games since, O'Neill has guided the Hoops back to within three points of Premiership leaders Hearts having also played a game less than the Tynecastle side and out of the group stage of the Europa League, where they face the Bundesliga outfit in the first leg of their playoff this evening.
