LIAM ROSENIOR says he could not pass up the chance to take over as Chelsea head coach and that he had rejected other jobs with Champions League clubs.

The 41-year-old Englishman was yesterday appointed on a contract until 2032, replacing Enzo Maresca (below), who left the club on New Year's Day.

“There are certain moments in your life where you have decisions you can't say no to,” said Rosenior in Strasbourg before leaving the French club.

The deal was rubberstamped soon after as Rosenior returns to English football following previous spells in charge at Derby and Hull.

Rosenior said: “This was not part of the plan (to leave now). But it’s here and it’s an opportunity I don't think many would turn down.

“When I was notified of the interest it was a very nice surprise. I've said before, it's not where you finish in the league, it's the way your team plays.
