Starmer has lost the public after 12 months
Scottish Daily Express
|July 08, 2025
YOU'D expect Labour to be celebrating the first anniversary of winning an enormous majority in the general election.
Instead, the mood of the party is grim — and no wonder. After a Year of Keir, it’s obvious that the Conservatives’ warnings about the Labour Party were right. We said they would break their manifesto promises. That they would raise taxes. That they would be irresponsible with public finances. That they would hold back growth and hammer businesses. And that they would fail to put a lid on waste and excessive borrowing.
Lo and behold, they've done it all. And in record time. As a result, the Prime Minister's ratings are at a record low, public trust in his government is nonexistent and a huge contingent of Starmer's own backbenchers are in open revolt.
But he has dug this hole for himself with catastrophic decisions that have hit businesses and households hard.
