Sorry Katy Perry... the only 'Roar' I know is Hampden's

IT'S not every day that Steve Clarke fields questions about Katy Perry in a pre-match press conference.

- BY BLAIR ESSON

The Scotland boss, however, seemed largely unimpressed at learning the pop superstar had been sharing the same plush city centre hotel as his squad this week.

Clarke only has eyes for one thing. And that's three points against Greece at Hampden tonight, which would edge him closer to becoming the first man since Craig Brown to lead the national team to a World Cup finals.

It'll be Clarke's 72nd game in charge - overtaking the record held by Brown - when the Scots complete the second part of this qualification doubleheader with Sunday's visit of Belarus.

And if Clarke can find a way to rack up back-to-back victories this week then he is certainly going to hear the Hampden Roar from the Tartan Army. Roar was also heard when Ms Perry was in town for Tuesday's concert at the OVO Hydro as part of her Lifetimes world tour... which brings us back to Clarke's unexpected house quest.

"Is she? I didn't know she was there," said the 62-year-old, below, with a shrug of the shoulders.

"I've heard the name and I'm sure if you played me a couple of her songs I'd recognise one. But I couldn't name one of her songs. That's no disrespect to Katy but I'm from a different generation."
