Seabed sentry will guard crucial cables from Russian subs

British defence firm Ultra Maritime has developed an autonomous undersea vessel called Sea Spear which is launched by a mother ship before expanding to 50 times its original length to patrol waters against enemy activity.

Now a deal with US drone-maker Anduril will make Sea Spear a mother ship itself, carrying the American firm's Seabed Sentry system which uses artificial intelligence to vastly increase its range and better protect our undersea assets.

Crucial

The UK is heavily reliant on crucial subsea cables to carry £7trillion in daily financial transactions.
