Scots Major accused of murdering wife on Oz kayak trip

A SCOTS-born army major has been charged with murdering his wife, who died in a kayak drowning incident in Australia almost five years ago as part of a A$1million life insurance fraud.

Less than six months later, in April 2021, Graeme Davidson flew to Thailand and married a local woman the following year.

Initially, Jacqueline Davidson’s death was treated as a tragic accident but police subsequently re-opened the case after suspicions were raised.

The couple, who had been married for 26 years, were on a day-trip to Lake Samsonvale, north of Brisbane, Queensland when the mother-of-three died.

Davidson, originally from Glasgow, was arrested on Monday after flying to Australia for “family reasons”.

He was detained after officers raided the home where he was staying and found him sleeping on a camp-bed in the lounge.

Davidson, 55, has now been charged with murder, domestic violence, fraud and attempted fraud of £500k.
