DECLAN JOHN is desperate to book a trip to Hampden with St Mirren - to help erase the pain of his only previous trip to the National Stadium with Rangers.

The left wing-back was superb as the Buddies warmed up for Friday's League Cup quarterfinal clash at Kilmarnock with a 2-1 win at Falkirk.

John's deflected free-kick opened the scoring and he laid the clincher on a plate for Mikael Mandron. Now he hopes Saints can take their form into the last eight with Killie and secure the first berth in the semifinals.
