Queen says 'make room for reading'

Camilla hails joy of a good book

THE Queen has praised the benefits of sitting down with a good book as she said it is “more urgent than ever” to get people reading.

Marking the fifth anniversary of her Reading Room book club, founded during the coronavirus lockdown, Camilla said: “Books do make life better.”

What started as a simple recommendation of books online has now reached more than 12 million people in over 180 countries.

And in 2023, The Queen’s Reading Room became a charity with a very simple mission: to spread the joy of reading.
