DONALD Trump insists he has an “obligation” to sue the BBC for $1billion, as Sir Keir Starmer urged the broadcaster to “get their house in order”.

The US president has threatened to demand the huge sum in the Florida courts, unless the BBC issues an apology and provides “appropriate compensation” by tomorrow for broadcasting a heavily edited version of one of his speeches.

Mr Trump said: “I have an obligation to do it, you can't allow people to do that.”

“Supposedly” an ally, the president told Fox News: “They defrauded the public and they've admitted it. This is within one of our great allies. That's a pretty sad event.”
