PETER PAWLETT warned Dundee United to beware a Luxembourg banana skin.

- By Scott Burns

Jim Goodwin's side secured a 1-0 advantage over UNA Strassen at Tannadice to take into Thursday’s Conference League second qualifying round return.

But former United midfielder Pawlett knows from painful experience how tough it can be against so-called minnows in Luxembourg.

He was part of the Aberdeen side who beat Fola Esch 3-1 at Pittodrie and then lost 1-0 in Luxembourg City nine years ago.

Rangers have even worse memories of Luxembourg as they crashed out of the Europa League under Pedro Caixinha to Progres Niederkorn in 2017.

Pawlett said: “It is going to be a hard game for Dundee United.

“They have the first leg lead and hopefully they can go and finish the job on Thursday.

“UNA Strassen will be an organised setup. They created a few chances at Tannadice.
