SCORING ISSUE IS THELIN’S PRIORITY
JIMMY THELIN admits his misfiring Aberdeen team need to park their long-term aspirations and prioritise finding an immediate solution to their goalscoring ineptitude.
The Dons have failed to hit the net in any of their four league games and sit rooted to the bottom of the table with just a solitary point, which came in last weekend’s goalless draw with Livingston at Pittodrie.
While they managed to score twice against FCSB in their Europa League playoff last month, it wasn’t enough to stop them bowing out 5-2 on aggregate, although they do at least have the consolation of Conference League group stage action to look forward to, which kicks off on October 2.
The gloom around Aberdeen is in sharp contrast to May, when manager Thelin was the toast of the Granite City after he took the Scottish Cup back there for the first time in 35 years following their penalty shootout victory over Celtic in Hampden.
