Private firms' record 14.4 m fines prompts calls for code
BRITAIN’S drivers were handed a record 14.4 million parking tickets by private companies in 2024/25, figures have shown.
Motoring groups said it demonstrates the “urgent” need for the Government to reintroduce a code of practice for the sector.
The daily rate of tickets being issued by private firms in the year to the end of March was 39,374.
Meanwhile the total over the period was up 13% compared with 12.8 million the previous year and more than double the 6.8 million in 2018/19.
