Pakistan shells Indian villages as four of its soldiers injured

INDIA and Pakistan exchanged more deadly cross-border fire yesterday as tensions soared between the nuclear-armed rivals.

Four Pakistan soldiers were wounded as India launched attack drones at their enemy hours after Islamabad’s troops shelled its villages.

It targeted Pakistan’s air defence systems, prompting Islamabad to shoot down several drones as India claimed that it had “neutralised” its enemy’s attempted strikes.

The air battles came a day after Indian missiles hit several locations in Pakistan, killing 31 civilians, according to Pakistan officials.

India said that was retaliation after gunmen killed more than two dozen people, mostly Hindu tourists, in India-controlled Kashmir last month.

India accused Pakistan of being behind the assault but Islamabad denies the claim.
