Number of people delayed in hospital rises

THE number of people stuck in Scotland’s hospitals despite being ready to leave has reached its highest level since February, figures have shown.

Around 2,000 patients are currently unable to go home. Last night critics described the situation as “out of control”.

At the July census, 1,948 people were delayed - a rise from 1,857 in June and the highest level since February when it reached 1,986.
