'No plan' for SNP's £2bn benefits black hole

SCOTS were warned that they will be hit with higher taxes to pay for a huge £2billion benefits black hole facing the Scottish Government over the next few years.

The Auditor General warned that SNP ministers don’t have a plan to pay for the burgeoning disability benefits bill, and were failing to check whether some applications were fraudulent.

John Swinney was confronted about this damning report at First Minister’s Questions as he defended the massive public spending on social security and the fact there are light-touch checks on applicants. People just need to tick a box to receive money from the welfare system, with barely any physical checks.
