My £3 wisteria finally blooms ...after 51 years!

A MAN who bought a £3 wisteria plant when he was aged 30 has told of his shock when it finally burst into flower 51 years later.

Tom Daly, 81, bought the fickle climbing plant in 1975 with the hope it would cloak his house wall with its cascading purple flowers.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society, despite its reputation, most wisterias begin flowering within three to four years.

But Tom waited significantly longer and after 15 years of disappointment, moved house, but took the moody plant with him.
