LIVI BACK UP WITH A BANG

LIVINGSTON have been bought over by Calvin Ford but it is Davie Martindale who has got them motoring back into the Premiership.

- By Scott Burns

The Lions produced a brilliant comeback last night, coming from 2-0 behind in Dingwail to torpedo Ross County.

With the first leg leaving the tie finely poised at 1-1, County surged ahead with strikes from Josh Nisbet and Ronan Hale. But goals from Lewis Smith, Danny Wilson, Robbie Muirhead and sub Tete Yengi turned it into a glory evening for the boys in gold and black.

It means Livi return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Ford — the great-grandson of Henry Ford, the founder of the car company — bought the club earlier this month,

Now he is the proud owner of a shiny, new Premiership outfit.

As for County, their survival bid completely stalled. A horrendous drop off in form saw them slide into the play-offs.

They'd got out of jail with a 96th-minute penalty equaliser at Almondvale.

And given they were 2-0 up early in this game, they only have themselves to blame for blowing it.

They had managed to save themselves in the previous two play-off finals but this time it was third time unlucky.

After six years in the Premiership they now face the cruel reality of a return to the Championship.

County chairman Roy MacGregor had taken his players on to the pitch for a pre-match huddle.

Whatever he said, it produced results within seven minutes.
