JACK DRAPER revealed he overcame a fitness scare before beginning his bid to emulate his idol Andy Murray on the London grass this summer.

- By Neil McLeman

The British No.1 wrote “Good to be home” on the TV camera after beating American Jenson Brooksby 6-3 6-1 in the first round at Queen’s Club.

Under a scorching sun, Draper’s warm-up for Wimbledon started with a rapid win in his first grass-court match of the season against the world No.149.

His victory was held up only when a spectator who had fainted in the heat needed treatment in the second set.

But the 6ft 4in star said he had suffered his own physical issues after a “really heavy fall” before his first home match of the year.

“I feel good now,” he said. “Last week in training I had a little niggle. I had to have a break for a couple of days to see it through.
