McGinn wants to oust Dalglish and Law from top of Scotland goals list

JOHN MCGINN wants to become Scotland's all-time record goalscorer.

The Tartan Army hero never got to meet Denis Law, who passed away in January and shares top spot on the list with Kenny Dalglish on 30 goals.

Both legends were nicknamed "King" but McGinn, who has netted 20 times for his country, would love to see his name up there with Scottish football royalty.

The Aston Villa captain scored two huge goals in the last international window as Scotland beat Croatia and Poland and set up this week's Nations League play-off double-header against Greece.

Those strikes catapulted him above Ally McCoist (19) and sees McGinn sit fifth in the scoring charts, with Lawrie Reilly (22) and Hughie Gallagher (23) in his immediate sights before he tries to catch Law and Dalglish.

The 30-year-old midfielder said: "I like to wind Ally McCoist up a wee bit about it when I see him.

"It definitely is a motivation to be amongst those names. I have it in the back of my mind, it's something that I think is achievable.
