MORE lives are at risk unless urgent action is taken to stop violent sexual attacks on women and girls, a damning report has warned.

- By Martyn Brown Political Editor

It says there is “no better time” for the police and ministers to do more to spot predators in the community.

The alert comes at the latest stage of an inquiry set up in the wake of the murder of Sarah Everard.

Sarah, 33, pictured right, was kidnapped and raped by police officer Wayne Couzens as she walked home in South London in 2021.

Sarah’s mother Sue yesterday told how she remains tormented by the horrors of her daughter’s final hours, and is still full of rage. Lady Elish Angiolini KC’s latest report, published yesterday, examines the prevention of sexually motivated crimes against women in public.

Her first part, in February 2024, found that Couzens — who had been in the police for 20 years when he killed Sarah — should never have been an officer and chances to stop him were missed. The former Met PC was given a whole life jail term for her murder.
