Hannah's off to a fryer

ACCORDING to THE SECRET GENIUS OF MODERN LIFE (8pm, BBC2), one in three households now owns an air fryer.

It doesn't say how many households have taken theirs out of the box and plugged it in, but I'm guessing it's at least one in six.

Yes, the air fryer really has become crazily popular. Even Professor Hannah Fry, who presents this series (tonight's episode is the first of a new run), admits she's given in and bought one. "I resisted the first several waves of air fryer craze," she says, "but I finally relented. "And now I own one, it's sort of grown on me. I do actually cook with it pretty much all the time." On hearing this, I find myself exclaiming: "Me too, Hannah! Me too! We have so much in common!" But I don't think she can hear me, so I just sound like a weirdo.
