HAMPTON SILENCED CRITICS AND REACHED THE NO.1 SPOT

HANNAH HAMPTON says she has "proved people wrong" after her emergence as England's No.1 seemingly hastened the international retirement of Mary Earps.

Following Sarina Wiegman's promotion of Hampton, Earps (inset) called time on her Lionesses career, a scenario that few envisaged when Hampton was dropped from the squad months after being part of the Euro 2022 success, apparently for poor behaviour.

Wiegman eventually recalled the Chelsea keeper, saying Hampton had "sorted out personal issues."

And the player herself admits she went through a tough time following the suggestions that her behaviour led to Wiegman leaving her out.
