Groundhog day for Ryder Cup hero Bob as pal Bill sprinkles more stardust

IT was Groundhog Day for Robert MacIntyre at soggy Carnoustie as the Scot ended the day in contention for more silverware.

The Oban ace was part of Europe’s Ryder Cup winning team at the weekend, securing the final half-point at Bethpage Black on Sunday afternoon.

And he finished the first day of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship just three shots off the leaders, on six under par.

His group included Hollywood star Bill Murray, known for roles in the likes of Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters and Lost in Translation.
