Greer's proposal to double holiday home tax would 'destroy' tourism

GREEN MSP Ross Greer is lodging plans to DOUBLE the tax on holiday home owners already the highest in the UK.

Someone buying a second or holiday home in Scotland must pay a tax known as the Additional Dwelling Supplement (ADS).

It has already been hiked from 4% to 6% and now 8%, compared to an additional stamp duty of 5% in England and Wales.

Mr Greer the frontrunner in the race to become co-leader of the left wing nationalist party has lodged a series of amendments to the new Housing Bill at Holyrood, which would give councils the power to target specific areas with even higher rates of tax.
