Boss desperate for influential Devlin to commit to Jambos
HEARTS manager Derek McInnes hopes protracted contract talks with Cammy Devlin will have a happy ending.
The Australian midfielder is about to enter the final six months of his deal but he seems no closer to putting pen to paper.
Devlin has been an ever-present under McInnes, who handed the 27-year-old the armband for the recent defeat at Aberdeen in place of the injured Lawrence Shankland.
McInnes said: “Cammy knows how much we want him to be here. We've spoken about it and Td love him to stay beyond this season.
“I think [sporting director] Graeme Jones and his agent are still having discussions, so that’s part of it I don't get involved in.
“I've made it clear we want him to be here and hopefully that can be the outcome.
“He spoke brilliantly about being the captain, which was nice to hear, and I think that's genuine. Cammy’s authentic and hes a proper boy. I think he loves being here. He's had good and bad times here and he’s always shown his love for the club.
