Cow's milk 'better for children than plant-based alternatives'

CHILDREN who drink only plant-based milks may be missing out on vital nutrients, parents have been warned.

Alternatives to dairy, such as soya, oat and almond milk, have soared in popularity in recent years.

But experts advising the Government have warned that they do not provide the same amount of nutrients as cow's milk.

They raised particular concerns about the use of the products among children under the age of five.
