Couple lose winter fuel payments legal fight

A COUPLE who took the UK and Scottish governments to court over its decisions to cut winter fuel payments have lost their legal challenge.

Peter and Florence Fanning claimed that both administrations acted unlawfully in how it decided to implement the policy.

Their lawyers told judge Lady Hood that Holyrood and Westminster failed to properly consult pensioners about the changes to the policy and that correct procedures had not been adhered to.
