The SNP veteran appeared to have admitted to a second alleged breach of the ministerial code during her appearance in front of the Education Committee yesterday.

She survived a vote of no confidence on Tuesday, thanks to the “spineless” Scottish Greens lining up behind the SNP.

Ms Constance has been embroiled in controversy for weeks after she misrepresented the words of grooming gangs expert Professor Alexis Jay to infer she was not in favour of an independent Scottish inquiry.

Prof Jay also gave evidence to the committee and confirmed that she would like a correction to the official record.
