Cervical cancer test uptake falls
Scottish Daily Express
|February 25, 2026
ALMOST three out of five women in Scotland do not attend vital tests for cervical cancer within six months of being invited, figures have revealed.
The findings have prompted calls to increase attendance as quickly as possible.
Scottish Liberal Democrats leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said: "Early intervention is crucial, so more needs to be done to expand coverage and uptake. That includes tackling barriers to participation, whether that's making sure women can get appointments at times that suit or with information about what a screening involves."
