ARNE AMBITION CAN BE PAIN IN NECK FOR CONTINENTAL RIVALS

And it's given the Belgian a taste for inflicting more pain in the Champions League.

The Hoops are still a work in progress in preseason but the confidence levels are soaring after sparkling displays in defeating Sporting Lisbon and the Magpies without conceding.

Eddie Howe's Newcastle brought 10,000 fans north on Saturday - and they expected to see their Champions League-bound English Premier League giants give Celtic a sore one.

Instead they were sent home in shock by a lethal 4-0 win from Brendan Rodgers' Bhoys in the inaugural Adidas Trophy.

Seeing off top qualify opposition has only whetted the appetite for Engels - and he's keen to make sure Celtic make the big time when the qualifying playoff arrives next month.

The midfielder - who notched from the spot against the Magpies - said: "That's a big goal, to reach the Champions League.

"In a few weeks, there are really big games coming up.

"It's up to us to now get physically ready for that. I'm sure we'll do great in those games.
