New vice-chairman says links to global brand 49ers make Gers more attractive to players

- By Andy Newport

PARAAG MARATHE'S duties already see him straddle both sides of the Atlantic.

But Rangers' new vice-chairman reckons the contacts he has built up in California and Yorkshire can help Rangers take the step to going global too.

The 47-year-old arrives in Glasgow with a strong knowledge in football - both in the round-ball version and its American namesake.

As a senior San Francisco 49er, he has built up almost a quarter of a century's worth of experience working in the ultra-competitive NFL environment as the club’s chief contract negotiator.

He's driven a similarly hard bargain at Leeds United, having taken up the role as Elland Road chairman more recently, with his efforts culminating in their return to the Premier League this summer.

Now he's turning his attention to affairs at Ibrox - and he is adamant he and stateside partner Andrew Cavenagh are the men to Make Rangers Great Again.
