A VOLUNTEER police officer who raped and sexually assaulted a child has been jailed for 24 years.

- BY ELLIE CRABBE

James Bubb groomed the girl online before sexually assaulting her when she was just 12 years old, and went on to rape and sexually abuse her in her early teens.

The former Metropolitan Police special constable was found guilty of these charges last summer and of raping a woman he had met online while posing as a 16-year-old girl.

The 28-year-old has since transitioned and now identifies as a woman named Gwyn Samuels.

Samuels was yesterday sentenced to a total of 32 years, made up of 24 years' imprisonment and a further eight years on extended licence.
