Remembering Junior King's impact on SA hip hop

JUNIOR King, born Dugulth Ferreira, was a rising star in South African hip hop from Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.
He grew up in Kariega, also known as Uitenhage, a town known for its vibrant dance and music culture.
He died on Thursday, December 11, in a head-on collision on the N1 near Verkeerdevlei, in the Free State. He was 29 years old.
King rose to fame through energetic dance videos and lyrical content on TikTok, quickly becoming both a prominent choreographer and rapper.
Known widely by his stage name Junior King, he made a mark in Afrikaans hip hop while giving a voice to communities often overlooked in mainstream music.
