The Vokkaligara Sangha, the apex body representing the influential Vokkaliga community, has strongly opposed the recently submitted Socio Economic and Educational Survey _ report—commonly referred to as the caste census— labelling it “unscientific” and biased.

The Sangha has demanded that the Karnataka government reject the report and conduct a fresh, accurate survey.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Sangha President Kenchappa Gowda said the community would unite with others who felt similarly aggrieved—including the Veerashaiva-Lingayats and Brahmins—and launch a massive agitation if the state proceeds with implementing the report.

“We will not remain silent. If the report is implemented, our community and others will join hands for a statewide protest,” Gowda warned, adding that the Sangha is ready to lead a Karnataka bandh if needed.
