Joinery firm has plans for expansion
Runcorn Weekly News
|May 29, 2025
EXPANSION proposals by a major Runcorn employer are poised to be backed by planning chiefs.
Howdens Joinery wants to extend its existing site on Astmoor Road in an effort to increase storage space and house more modern manufacturing equipment.
The council's development management committee is recommended to back the scheme, which will then be officially rubber stamped at a later date once issues around ecology and drainage have been ironed out.
The firm was established in 1995 and provides trade customers with kitchens, joinery and hardware. Products are manufactured at two production sites, one in Howden in Yorkshire and the other at Runcorn, with the 45,000 sq m Runcorn site employing 530 people.
